10 Causes Of Prostate Cancer In Men
Prostate Cancer is a tumor which grows in the prostate gland of men and which invades the nearby tissues. It is one of the most common cancers in men. A prostate cancer is caused due to changes that occur in the DNA of a normal prostate cell. Some of these changes may be due to hereditary factors in which the DNA of the parents may have links of prostate cancer.
Main Causes of Prostate Cancer in Men
Age of a person
Prostate cancer is found mostly in men over the age of 50. As the age increases, so does the risk of getting this disease. It has been found that almost 70 to 80% of men who developed this disease were over the age of 65 years.
Hereditary
Hereditary factor plays a vital role in developing this disease. As the main cause of prostate cancer is changes in the DNA cells, persons who have a family history of this disease are at a higher risk of contacting this disease. A father, brother or a close relative who has prostate cancer can easily pass it on to the family members.
Genes
These are closely related to the hereditary factor. The genes of a person which he gets from his parents can be another cause of prostate cancer. But studies in this context are still at a premature stage and still not been proved.
Race or color
It has been found that the occurrence of prostate cancer is high in men of African-American race. The reason for this is still not known, but it may be due to genes or hereditary factors. Prostate cancer is seen to be less in Asian-American or Latino men. Most persons who get infected with this disease die in the later stages.
Country of Origin
Along with race of a person, the nationality of a person too can be a factor in causing prostate cancer. It has been found that people of North America, Northwestern Europe and other parts of Europe have common cases of prostate cancer. This is less common in Asian or African continents.
Diet
The diet of a person too is an important factor in developing prostate cancer. Persons who eat a lot of red meat as well as high-fat dairy products are seen to be more prone to prostate cancer. For this, a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables is required to be consumed.

Studies have proved that in some cases, obese men who have a higher amount of fat content in their body are at greater risk of developing prostate cancer. They may at times develop advanced prostate cancer resulting in death.
Smoking
A new finding has been released which confirms the fact that the risk of prostate cancer is larger in men who are continuous or chain smokers.
Infection in Prostate Glands
This disease may appear due to infection in the prostate glands which may lead to inflammation of the gland. Some studies too are being conducted to find if sexually transmitted diseases may lead to prostate cancer. But these studies are still at a premature stage and not being proved.
As such, a prostate cancer can be caused due to the above mentioned factors. But some of these causes are still not verified and further studies are going on regarding the causes of this disease.
