While acne breakout is a serious cause of concern for teenagers and adults, there is no specific and defined prevention model for acne. Though acne can be of different types, and may appear for different reasons, knowing the reason for your acne and a few tips on how to prevent acne may help you to control the problem.

There are a few alternative acne prevention techniques and preventative skin care regimes that can be beneficial in preventing teenage acne.

Occupational Acne Prevention

There are certain types of acne where you can take some preventive measures to avoid it. For instance, in cases of occupational acne, you can take medication or immunization at the potential risk of mass acne breakout. People working in specific industry may develop acne due to exposure of their skin to certain substances, which include certain chemicals, herbal products, or mineral oils.

Preventing their skin from exposure to such acne inducing chemicals is the best way of preventing occupational acne. In such cases, proactive acne prevention program would be of great benefit to public health services.

Adolescent Acne Prevention

Acne in adolescents can be irritating as well as embarrassing. Though there is no specific medically recommended preventive system for acne, you can control acne breakout by having balanced diet that is rich in fruits and fresh vegetables, and also by leading a positive and stress free life.

Also, when you figure out the reason of acne breakout, stop yourself coming into contact with the acne inducing agent. For example, do not use such cosmetics or body soaps or lotions that may leave your skin too oily and may possibly induce acne. If you are taking steroids for some ailment and your doctor cautions you in advance about potential acne breakout, request for some alternative medication, if possible.

Practical Ways to Prevent Acne

You can use a few alternative acne prevention techniques that may help in either preventing acne or in reducing its severity. Use herbal mixture to reduce the effects of acne. An herbal blend that can control your acne consists of equal quantities of herbal extracts of sarsaparilla, yellow dock, burdock, and cleavers. These herbs are excellent cleansing agents of your blood and lymph. Take half a teaspoon per day of this mixture for three times a day. This ensures preventing further aggravation of acne.

As an alternate option, you can gently message the affected area with some herbal oil. It increases circulation and lymphatic drainage and also speeds up healing of acne scars, if any. Apart from these measures, regular exercises, and meditation and breathing exercises keep your skin fresh and healthy, and prevent acne.

  • In case of itching on the acne, use some cotton and do it softly. If you see something oozing out of it, use an antiseptic lotion or powder with gauze piece.
  • Use herbal beauty supplement rather than using the chemical ones. Wash your face with herbal face wash containing the herbs having disinfectant properties. Apply a good oil free moisturizer as a part of your daily skin care routine.
