This method really works!

I have started this method 6 months ago and I haven't worn my glasses ever since. Every time I went to see my eyedoctor he would just give me a new stronger prescription. I work as a software engineer so I thought it was the long hours in front of the computer that made my eyes weaker. The Bates method saved my eyesight. This method does require perseverence, but that's a small price to pay for being able to see better.

I read this book while I was still at school and hated wearing glasses (+1.25L, +1.75R). Following the method, I have enjoyed a completely normal vision. I have kept away from glasses for about 11 years now!!

Some of my friends have shown even better results (coz they had heavier lenses to start with).

What your eye doctor doesn't want you to know ?

I've used this method to pass a police eye exam before and it works. If your doctor said you had to wear a crutch forever because of a strain due to excessive and improper use of a muscle , you'd call him a quack. But most of us pay big bucks to get good vision and it's nothing more(in most cases) than a case of eye strain caused by poor vision habits. Your eye doctor won't tell you to use this book, because he gets paid twice over to get you to wear glasses(or something even more expensive). My biggest problem with nearsightedness came from always looking at near objects such as the ground and never allowing the muscles in my eyes to stretch and see things like the horizon or clouds overhead. And when I finally did chose to stretch these muscles it was like trying to get into a crossed leg yoga position. The lenses in your eye are controlled by muscles and they need to be stretched and tightened.Buy this book for everyone you know and love and tell your eye doctor either to get another sucker or find a new job.

I think this is a great book. I know of many people who have actualy tried the methods described in the book with amazing results. All it requires is a little patience and perseverance. A couple of simple exercises everyday and you are on your way to better eyesight without glases. Eyes like other organs in the body can be healed by proper care and exercising the muscles. There is an immutable interchange are reciprocal dependence between body and soul. To affirm the body is to affirm hidden behind the body-soul complex. The body cannot on its own assert an existence that is separate from this unity. Any discipline that prepares the body to assume its role as the effective element promoting this unity may one day become the way towards the realization of the Self. Seen in this light Hatha-Yoga, which is first and foremost a method designed to turn the body into the perfect instrument, may be called the way to Self-realization (Self being the body-mind-soul complex). The body is a sign, a language of God and of the Supreme. How can this “sign” be improved so that so that may communicate better with God and enlarge our understanding of what He tells us?

The interchange between body and soul is made clear by Prana, a neutral principle that is neither solely physical nor uniquely spiritual.

Hatha-Yoga attaches great importance to Prana and to breathing through alternate nostrils according to a certain rythmn; the same is true of the breathing that accompanies postures. The fact that we are able to relax the body is due to though (or conscience) that lies behind it. If someone says to me ‘Relax’ my first reaction is to tense up, and only afterwards relax. Why is this? The answer is that the body at first reacts unsuccessfully to the order; then thought, feeding the body, carries out the order and is able to make the body relax. The messenger that interprets and puts into action the order of the thought is Prana or Pranic energy. In the case of illness for example, Prana is the conductor-wire directing our will to recovery.

The present work is doubly important. Firstly, because the author, Sri Ananda, has learnt Hatha-Yoga is a highly traditional way from a Hindu Guru. Hence he is both careful and wise to stress the importance of breathing-a cardinal element of Hatha-Yoga. Secondly, he has lived in Europe and has come to understand the needs of those in the West, bringing them a technique of unquestionable authenticity.

It is striking to see how the declarations made by ancient India contemplative thinkers on the human body have been confirmed by today’s science. The Yogis stated the sacred nature of the spine, in the centre of which is the Sushumna, the field of all great spiritual experience. Hatha-Yoga advocates several postures to exercise the spine.

Science has confirmed by the experimental method what the Yogis discovered through meditation and intuition. The contemplative thinkers in India have a great contribution to make to the active non-contemplative West, by by accepting the practice of Hatha-Yoga and other methods of yoga, the West shows itself both receptive and spiritually open. Hence a living bridge has been created between the East and the West. The present work is eminently suited to its aim to enabling everyone to attain the harmony of body and mind, thus helping to make that bridge even stronger.
