Cholesterol is considered to be white and powdery substance that is found in almost all animal cells. Animal based foods also contain cholesterol however plants don’t have it. Instead of its bad impression in everyone’s mind, cholesterol performs some important functions in the human body. This includes repairing cell membranes, producing hormones such as testosterone and estrogens. It also manufactures vitamin on the skin surface in the presence of ultraviolet rays of the sun. Ayurveda approaches this as srotogatah dushit Kapha Dosha. Srotus are the micro channels of the body. When Kapha Dosha gets vitiated it gets the form of plaques and occupies bodily channels. The flow of the blood gets restricted and hence creates danger.
