However Ayurveda doesn’t deal with particular types, modern science signifies many divisions of cholesterols. It believes that cholesterol travels throughout the body in the form of packages called lipoproteins which literally mean lipids and proteins.
Main types are listed below…
- HDL cholesterol –
This is known as high density lipoproteins. This is well known as “good” cholesterol. This is produced by liver to carry cholesterol and other fats in form of lipids from the tissues and organs back to liver for refining and recycling. This is an indicator that your blood is having less cholesterol in the body and hence healthy heart.
- LDL cholesterol –
This is known as low density lipoproteins. This is known as “bad” cholesterol. This too, is produced by liver but it carries cholesterol and other fats in form of lipids from the liver to the tissues, organs and heart itself. Its always advisable to keep this low in level as high level suggests your cholesterol high in blood stream and could be hazardous for your heart.
- Triglycerides –
These are type of fat found in our blood. Body can’t consume in direct form what one eats. It breaks down the food particles from the calories to triglycerides. This is stored in our fat cells and released later for energy production. Hence if one consumes more than calories he burns, produces high level of triglycerides.
