Prevention of eczema

There are so many ways to prevent this condition. Some of them are mentioned below…

Bathing

Soaking our self in a steaming hot baths is best way to unwind and relax. Unfortunately this could be one of the reason of itching if you have eczema. Bathing in hot water makes your skin dehydrated. The natural oils produced by the body is lost during this procedure. This further goes more down when one rubes their body with towel vigorously.

One has to take quick lukewarm shower than to long hot baths in a tub. Do this for about 10-20 minutes. If possible, avoid using chemical soaps and shampoos. Pat yourself dry when you finish a shower. Don’t rub vigorously, but gently wipe out the water. Once this is done, apply herbal moisurizer or gentle cream or lotion.

Controlling Allergens

Allergens are main culprit for the itching. Avoiding allergens can trigger eczema. The problem is it is quite difficult to identify the allergens. Allergens could be anything like pet dander, pollen, perfumes, soaps, dust and rubbers to name them. If one avoids these suspected allergens may reduce the chances of triggering the skin rashes.

The best way to get rid of all these is to use vacuum cleaner instead of dust-mop or broom. Mattress and pillow wraps also help that reduce the contacts with mites. Another way is replacing the carpet with linoleum, other flooring or wood, as carpets tend to harbor too much of dust mites.

Excessive Sweating and Skin Rashes

Too much sweating can increase eczema especially skin rashes under the breasts, near the joints and other areas of the body where the skin folds itself. A person who is fat or obese has high risk of excessive sweating and skin fold rashes. The weight loss in this way may help
solving eczema.

Kids and Eczema

Research reveals that 10-20% of children suffer from infant eczema. Infant eczema rashes diminish and fade with age in many cases. Half of them will continue with some type of eczema. Small children are suppose to scratch itchy rashes and grown up child may experience teasing about their visible eczema patch.

Young children often find difficulty to resist the itching. The most important is making sure that the child’s nails are to be cut short to minimize the damage done by scratching.

Other Tips

The laundry soap can leave their residue on the clothes that can aggravate eczema. Check out for the laundry soap whether it is sensitive to the skin or not. Many people use baking soda for washing the clothes. Whatever the soap or detergent is used, it is to be rinse thoroughly so that there are no residues.

Laundry soap can leave residue on clothes that aggravates eczema. Look for laundry soap designed for sensitive skin. Some people prefer to use baking soda to wash their clothes. Whether using a gentle laundry soap or baking soda, rinse clothes thoroughly to remove any residues.

The low humidity may cause the skin to become dry and then to crack. This can be avoided by using herbal humidifiers in the room.

This can be prevented by avoiding exposure to extreme temperatures, dry air and certain make up material including hard soaps. One should go for cotton material for wearing and blankets instead of stiff synthetics like polyester.

Be careful while choosing your moisturizing cream after taking bath. Beware of any skin contact with the person who has this. Avoid irritating chemicals, plants, jewelry, pets that may trigger this disease. Proper bath and wash is must.

It is best if one knows about the allergic item and avoids that as much as possible. One should swipe or prevent sweating that may cause this disease. Sharing towels or clothes of a person who has this problem is surely dangerous.

One should avoid all the factors that aggravate the Pitta Dosha. This may include spicy and oily food, stale and decayed food, incompatible food like fish with milk, radish with honey or milk and so on.
