If a person awakes one day to find hair growing where not wanted – the ways to remove the unwanted hair becomes the first thought of the day. Unwanted hair can grow on hands, feet, or even between shoulder
blades. The location does not matter. What matters is that the person wants to permanently remove this hair and continue on with life. For this, a person should consider electrolysis hair removal.
Electrolysis hair removal is a method that has permanent results. Utilizing state of the art technology, hair follicles receive electric pulses that deaden its ability to re grow hair. Once deadened, the unwanted hair is removed with tweezers or forceps. The exact number of electrolysis treatments needed varies from person to person. One person may only require one treatment to remove the unwanted hair. Another person may require several electrolysis treatments over a period of time. It depends on the coarseness of the hair as well as the amount of hair that is being removed.
The basic electrolysis procedure begins with the insertion of a needle into the bulb or base of a hair follicle. Tiny electrical pulses are sent through the needle into the hair follicle. Upon reaching the base, the electricity
deadens the follicle thus preventing any future hair growth from occurring. If the hair follicle is in the active growth stage at the time, the chances of future hair growth is virtually eliminated. If the hair follicle is not in the active growth stage, there may be a slight amount of hair re-growth after an extended period of time.
Permanent hair removal is just one of the benefits of electrolysis hair removal. The ability to treat individual hair follicles makes electrolysis a desirable hair removal treatment. This is a sharp contrast from other hair removal methods that only allow for treatment of hair patches. If hair does happen to return in the treated area, it is often sparse and becomes weaker over time. This allows for easier removal the second time around. When the hair is removed, no stubble is left behind as with other popular removal methods.
There are three basic types of electrolysis hair removal: thermoloysis, galvanic and blend. With the thermoloysis type, a high frequency heat wave is utilized along with a short wave diathermy current. Together, these two frequencies burn the hair follicle at the bulb or base. The current travels through a needle to its intended follicle. Once here, the heat wave is dispensed over a quick period of one to three seconds.
The second type, galvanic, is the original method of electrolysis treatment. Here a galvanic current is released through a needle to the selected hair follicle. As a result of this current, the salt and water contained in the hair follicle becomes chemically altered. This change results in Lye being produced. The Lye solution then becomes the destruction agent by dissolving the dermal papilla. The dermal papilla is the part of the hair follicle responsible for hair growth. The production of Lye makes this form of electrolysis desirable due to its ability as a liquid to reach even the toughest hair follicles found in distorted or curved shape.
The third type of electrolysis treatment is known as the blend method. Simply stated, this method is a “blend” of the galvanic method and the thermoloysis method. The founding concept of the blend method is that Lye is more effective as a heated substance. Therefore, when heat is added to the Lye solution, it allows for a more caustic destruction of the dermal papilla. This is achieved by the heat making the dermal papilla pours more open. Thus allowing for more of the Lye solution to penetrate the hair follicles and stopping future hair growth.
Although electrolysis hair removal is ideal for all hair types, some may require additional treatments than others. For example, if a person has naturally wavy, curly hair, the dermal papilla is difficult to reach in one treatment. After that initial treatment, the hair follicle becomes temporarily damaged. Therefore additional treatments are required to achieve a permanent solution. Likewise, if hair follicles show signs of extensive damage as a result of tweezing or waxing methods, electrolysis will not take on the first treatment.
As with other hair removal treatments, the level of pain involved in electrolysis varies from one person to another. The general comment regarding pain is that the initial feeling is a tingling or stinging sensation when treatment begins. After that, the amount of pain depends on the individual person’s pain tolerance level. In addition to that, another factor to consider is the type of electrolysis treatment being utilized. For those that experience a significant amount of pain, a topical anesthetic can be used. A healthier alternative would be to utilize breathing techniques with Lavender aromatherapy to ease discomfort. Lavender is a natural healing agent that can be used to soothe tension and provide relaxation.
Electrolysis is an ancient method of hair removal dating back approximately 100 + years. It is viewed as the only hair removal method available for permanent results. Whether the need for permanent hair removal is significant or just a thought in the back of a person’s mind, the end result is the same. Electrolysis is a method that can be utilized to achieve a look that gives a person a more aesthetic appearance. When a person is happy with the appearance the world sees, that person is happy on the inside as well.
