Many men and women use chemicals for their hair care. Improper hair care or hair cosmetics are harmful. This may include dyes, bleaches, tints, permanent waves and straighteners. The hair can break or got weaken if any of these are used in excess. One should not leave the solution on hairs for long period. If the hairs become brittle by the usage of chemical treatments, it is advisable to stop until the hair grows out.
The hairstyles that is made by the pulling the hair, like braids and ponytails are to be made with care. The constant pull create hair loss, especially at the sides of the scalp.
Shampooing, brushing and combing too often can also damage hair roots. Using the cream rinse or herbal conditioner after shampooing will make them more manageable and easier to comb. One has to be cautious when the hairs are wet, this is because they are more fragile and so vigorous rubbing with towel and combing and brushing them roughly may pull hairs out. Usage of wide toothed combs are really beneficial that may prevent hair loss.
Hereditary balding or thinning is the most common cause for the hair loss. Ayurveda believes that this comes from the father side. Modern science also believes that the responsible factor that creates the baldness is on “Y” chromosome. And in women the composition stands is “XX”. Hence, there are very less chances for the women to0 get baldness. The condition is called as androgenetic alopecia and this can start in the teens, twenties or thirties. Frankly speaking, there is no cure for this other than the hair transplantation.
There are many causes that can turn into baldness. Any major illness or surgery may take off your hairs. Hair loss due to stress or illness is therefore temporary problem. Over functioning or under functioning of thyroid gland also causes this. If androgens and estrogens of male and female hormones respectively start malfunctioning then also one may loose the hairs. If one has too much dandruff is also moving towards the hair loss in future.
There are other factors like women loose their hairs about three months after giving birth to a baby. Certain treatment like chemotherapy removes almost all hairs from the head. Medicines used for gout, anti-coagulants, birth control pills, depressants and vitamin A in excess may bring hair loss. Diabetes or fungal infections are common factors.
Ayurveda says that taking too much salty, spicy and oily food may give raise to hair fall. Ayurveda favors main causative factor as hereditary and excessive Pitta Dosha aggravator acts. This also depends on the geographical areas like “saurashtra” region in Gujarat state in India has excessive salted water for drinking and using is the main factor responsible for alopecia.
