Alopecia Hair Loss
Alopecia is nothing but loosing the hairs from the head. This could be from anywhere from the head. Khaalitya (say khaa lee t yaa) literally means an empty or flat. When a person is flat or smooth or empty by hairs is known as khaalitya. There are some other closely related conditions like indralupta (say in dra loo p ta; meaning hair loss from one particular place on head) and paalitya (premature graying hairs). Hairs are labeled as our “crowning glory”. In society, there is a great deal of cultural and social importance of hairstyles and hairs. But unfortunately, improper hair care, diseases and many other conditions lead to excessive hair loss. The physician who deals with hair loss cases evaluates the patient’s hair problem by asking question about the medications, diet, food taken since last six months, hereditary and many more. Certain hormonal changes may be involved like questions regarding menstrual cycles, pregnancies and menopause may carry significant causes of having hair loss. After examining the scalp and hair, the doctor may check few hairs under the microscope and in the complicated cases, one may has to undergo the scalp biopsy for accurate diagnose. it is important to find the cause of the disease, and to find out whether it will respond to medical treatment or not.
