In migraine headache, there are recurrent attacks. They are described as throbbing, intense and pounding pain that involves one side of the headache known as temple. This is not always, as this may involve forehead, around eyes or the backside of the head. The pain is generally unilateral and may change side to side. The attack aggravates by climbing stairs, looking at sun and bending forwards. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, sometimes diarrhea, cold feet, sensitivity to light and sound and facial pallor. Migraine sufferers like to be in quite and dark room during an attack.
In tension headache, the pain begins in the back of the head and upper neck as tightness or pressure like feeling. This headache is also described as a band of pressure encircling the entire head especially over eyebrows. This seldom associated with vomiting, nausea or sensitivity to light and sound. Tension headache generally occur infrequently and without a pattern knows as sporadically. However this may vary from person to person as some of the people get this very frequently. Many people follow daily routine in spite of having tension headache.
Overall general symptoms may involve pain in the head with some visual disturbance like blurred vision in severity case. There could be malaise, confusion, irritability and general feeling of discomfort. There are certain types of pain like throbbing type, hammering type, pinching type and gripping type to name them.
Lack of concentration is one of the main symptoms. A person gets fed up by everything. None of his or her interesting subject can make sufferer to get relief. In some cases where the cause is acidity one feels nausea and then vomiting. Severe symptoms as in migraine makes person to just lie down and bear the headache till it gets subsided. Vascular headaches also fall in same category.
