Babies And Diarrhea

Diarrhea: It is a viral and bacterial infection. It can be due to parasitic infections, where a parasite is easily transferred from one place to another. It can be caused by an upset tummy, allergies or intolerance to the food. Worse: It’s poison. All these things cause diarrhea.

A warning for parents when your baby has diarrhea
Many would typically ignore diarrhea. Many adults believe that a day at home will cure the sickness. But babies are different. They have fresh organs which have just scarcely adapted to ailments like diarrhea. They are very delicate and sensitive.

Take note that newborn babies don’t talk, so many parents have a hard time deciphering how their babies feel. It is advised that parents be particular with their baby’s mechanism, like what their feces normally look like and the foods that the child eats. Be aware that once the baby’s bowel movements have changed suddenly, it could be caused by diarrhea.

Once the sickness strikes, parents should be alarmed and must take immediate action. They must not wait for further ailments to afflict the child. Diarrhea might be mild in most cases (especially for adults) but babies can become dehydrated which is particularly dangerous. Keep the baby hydrated, giving the baby plenty of liquids.

Dehydration in babies makes them look dry, like their eyes are tearless and their mouths are dry. Not only should you be worried that your baby excretes wet poop frequently, you should also be concerned when the baby scarcely poops at all.

It is very serious when the baby doesn’t urinate in 6 hours and becomes unconscious. When you pinch the skin, it fails to return to its original form. There’s some sort of deformation and lost of elasticity of the skin. In this case, the child could have vomited several times and have more than a 38 degree fever. It is most distressing to find blood in the child’s anus. Don’t let a second pass. Call for medical help before it’s too late.
