Red Wine is known as a health drink; but what do you actually know about the varieties of Red Wine..? There is this Dry-Red Wine, which again has a number of variations and if you don’t know anything about all these, here’s a simple guide.
Red Wine derives its color from the grape-skin from which it is made. The colors of these grapes also vary from maroon to deep red, from purple to light red and so on. It’s these colors which are reflected in the wine bottles stacked in our stores. The color of a particular variety of wine is because of the grapes used in its preparation, as well as the length of time the grape-skin kept lying in the juice before its extraction.
The quality is determined by the “body”. A light body wine will go easily on mouth, your taste-buds, as well as any food with intense flavor. Beaujolais Nouveau, which is Red Wine from France, is a fine example of this type.
Wines like Merlot or Shiraz are medium-bodied and a bit heavy, though not so powerful like Bordeaux Wines of French origin or the Super Tuscans, the Red Wine from Italy, which are full bodied and hence contain more alcohol.
Obviously, Red Wine is served in a particular type of glass, which you would have surely noticed in many parties or gatherings. Red wine is served at 65 deg. F, in a glass shaped like an egg, narrowing at the top, unlike a tall slim glass, since this gives wine time and space to swirl.
Red Wines are of different kinds, from the full-bodied ones to vintage wines. Some wines are more privileged, like Australian Red Wine, Californian Red Wine or the wines of Europe such as Spanish, which comes highly recommended. Soon you can discern which Red Wine you like most. Till then, taste the all time favorites such as Californian Red Wine Cabernet-Sauvignon, or Cabernet-Franc!
Studies have found that dry red-wine is a healthy drink, and can do you a lot of good. They recommend wines derived from Cabernet-Sauvignon, which are good for your heart.
Bring pep to your meals through a healthy diet, through dry wine or red-wine, which should certainly be appetizing news!
