Care For Damaged Tooth
Whenever you face a damage to your tooth because of any reason, then there are certain steps which are needed immediately to avoid the damage to be permanent. As we all know, a damage tooth not only makes the person looks less attactive but it may have some other implications as well like constant tooth ache, not able to chew properly etc.
Unless there has been some major accident that has resulted into broken tooth, one needs to see the dentist immediately within 2-3 hours of damage so that the loss can be repaired in time. This is because if you happen to see the dentist in time, then chances of revival is very high and in majority of cases it would be possible to repair the damage tooth through capping or filling. Failure in doing so,may result into some severe dental problems and may also lead to infections and in some cases this may even lead to loss of tooth.
As a first aid, one should keep a watch on bleeding immediately after the damage. steps must be taken to stop the bleeding. This can be easily achieved by applying pressure to the gum area around the tooth. Pressure has to applied to above the tooth or below the tooth depending upon the tooth being upper or lower respectively. If you happen to feel some swelling as well along with the bleeding, try rinsing your mouth with water.
When you do visit the dentist, pls ensure to take along with broken piece of tooth if it is available. Dentist will be in a position to repair the tooth and will be able to put it back using the equipments and skills. This ways of repairing the tooth will be cheaper also as compared to replacing the complete tooth.
Please do ensure that until you have been able to see the dentist and enough corrective action has been taken by him/her, chew only from the other side. If you eat from the side where the damage is there, then it may lead to irritation,itching and may even lead to severe infection. Also, take enough care to consume only the soft food that can be easily chewed.
