Causes and Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy

The term ectopic pregnancy may not be the new term for many of us. The subject is crucial and needs to be addressed who are planning to conceive, or are already pregnant and worried about the little angel growing inside them.
Although, very few cases of ectopic pregnancies have been seen, but one really needs to be careful. It happens when the pregnancy happens outside the uterus in fallopian tubes. In this case, no early symptoms are visible. Normally women are able to feel the symptoms and gauge the pregnancy around one month of the gestational period, but in ectopic pregnancy, symptoms are felt a bit late.
There are some of the factors responsible that can make women susceptible to ectopic pregnancy.
Other than the previous ectopic pregnancy, caused by a pelvic inflammation disease ,sexually transmitted disease can be a reason of ectopic pregnancy. Other reason can be, if someone has had abdominal or fallopian tube surgery with postpartum scarring.
Intra uterine device has been also the possible cause for this kind of pregnancy in many women. It is a device which is fixed inside of the uterus. It works as a contraceptive and larger number of women uses it for its various benefits.
It can be worn for five to twelve years, depending on kind of the device. Ectopic pregnancy is one of the negative results, women face due to its use. As the device is in the uterus, so there is no place for fetus to survive there, but if sometimes conception takes place, it can take place in fallopian tube.
Possible is the cause of diethylstilbestrol, when the mother is exposed to it, when she was in her mother’s womb, especially if it happened to form some abnormalities of the reproductive tract. It can sometimes result in ectopic pregnancy.
Furthermore, if someone is at a higher risk of having that, the person should be familiar with the possible symptoms. Sharp cramps and pain in lower abdomen, which is occasional, increased bleeding, ligaments stretching, are some of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy.
There may be other severe indications such as heavy bleeding; brown vaginal spotting that is continuous or intermittent. In this case, report to hospital immediately to save the patient from tube rupture.
