Hearing loss does not happen in a day. The loss starts way back and continues over a period of time. Most of the patients are not able to notice it at early stages, and that it is why it becomes an unmanageable problem after a certain point of time.
There are times when you find it extremely difficult to hear people, especially at a crowded place. The same applies in group discussions. You might find it awkward that it is only you, who is not able to hear someone while others are comfortably engaged in the discussion.
Well, most of the times, we tend to ignore these issues, and take them on stride. The problem continues, and now you raise your television’s voice to the extent others find it too high.
Your family members would soon start noticing it, and this is the most appropriate time, when you should approach an ear, nose and throat specialist. The problem may not be with low frequency sounds but also with high frequency sound. Your ear might not also be able to identify with high frequency sounds.
Of course, most of the times, your doctor advises you to use some sort of hearing aid for yourself. However, you have to practice some measures or precautions to delimit the magnitude of your problems.
Your aim should not only be to deal with the problem but also stop its growth. It is advisable that you avoid going to places such as discos or rock music concerts.
The idea is to prevent your ear drums from unusual level of sounds. Also, needless to say, that you are supposed to keep your ear clean and free from unwanted particles. It is seen that any blockage in the ear channel can result in some or the other kind of damage in your ear – mostly the parts of the middle ear.
Nevertheless, you can remove wax from your ear by using an ear buds. Never use any other object such as pen, pencil, or stick, for this purpose. This can harm your ear drums, and expose you to different types of infections also.
