Diet For Fitness- A Must For All




If you are looking to stay healthy you need to consume a good diet. The fundamentals of good health revolve around the fact that if you intake a well balanced diet you are likely to remain fit and in the pink of health.

Your dietary habits will go a long way in determining your overall fitness level and will also help you ward off a number of diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stress and cancer.

Chalk out a diet plan for complete fitness:

All of us have different dietary needs. For instance, some of us are overweight, while others are lean. We also have different levels of physical activity.

For instance, some individuals are into heavy duty physical occupations such as athletes, bodybuilders and mountain climbers, whereas others sit in their office chair all day long. Thus, the amount of calories consumed by each one of us automatically differs.

Your present fitness level also helps determine the kind of diet you need to consume. If you are suffering from any diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure etc. your diet needs to be closely monitored. In times of pregnancy and lactation and during adolescence the individual needs to consume more calories and nutrients and needs to stick to a particular diet regime.

Diet for fitness and you:

You need to consume a healthy diet in order to meet the nutritional demands of your body everyday. For this, you must first decide whether you need to lose weight or gain weight or maintain your present body weight. In addition to this, if you are suffering from any disease, you must consult your doctor and stick to a specific diet plan.

Basics of a diet for fitness:

A good diet plan consists of all the basic nutrients and intake of sufficient calories. Carbohydrates are the leading source of energy metabolism of our body. All types of carbohydrates provide energy but, when taken in excess can cause obesity and diabetes. Proteins are the building blocks of life and are required for proper growth and development and to repair the daily wear and tear our body undergoes.

Fats are necessary for transporting nutrients and also release energy. But it is advisable for you to replace all those unhealthy unsaturated fats with saturated fats and avoid all foods that comprise of trans fats. High fat diets spell trouble all the way and can give rise to a number of health problems.

Foods you should eat regularly:

You must include a large number of fruits and vegetables in your diet. They are great reserves of a wide range of vitamins and minerals and dietary fiber. They also contain antioxidants and phytochemicals that are known to protect the body against the action of free radicals and also have anti-carcinogenic properties.

Try eating lean meat, chicken, fish, wheat germ, legumes and low fat dairy products to meet the body’s demand for protein. Eliminate all forms of deep fried, fermented, processed, refined and hydrogenated foods from your diet.
