Dieting For Teenagers




A large number of teenagers fall under the clutches of obesity these days. They feel very down on it and it becomes a challenge both social and mental—to cope up with this condition. The health hazards that obesity cause are known to all of us, and if one starts facing health ailments right from the beginning of their young ager, it becomes a cause of concern.

Now, when things go over a limit, most of the teens start taking some desperate actions in some way or the other. Most of them would tend to reduce their food intake to a great extent. They would impose harsh fasting on themselves and they remain starved for most of the day.

You might have seen teenagers living on one serving of food in the entire day. This is not a good sign. They may feel a difference and they may lose some weight, but at the same time, they also keep losing their body strength.

Such teenagers are found to impact their body immune system and thus inviting many more diseases, which were otherwise keeping away from them. So, what is the solution? Should they stop dieting and continue with their unhealthy eating patterns?

The answer is that they have to balance their diet. Fasting is not about dieting. They are two different things. Dieting is more about balancing the intake of nutrients that your body does not require, while fasting is to stop eating for a particular time, in order to help your digestion system to relax.

You can fast once in a week or a fortnight, but not everyday. This is where people go wrong. They fast almost everyday and think they are dieting – which is actually not the case.

It is always advisable that you take a close look at your diet, and take the corrective measures. Do not follow generic solutions that may not apply on you.

Identify your individual needs and solutions for them. For instance, you can replace colas with fruit juice, and replace chicken burgers with vegetable salads.
