Further, these factors can be categorized into two types: modifiable and non-modifiable factors. There is not much we can do about non-modifiable factors because they are related to person’s age and sometimes it is because of the genes that are inherited by one’s parents.
While on the other hand, modifiable factors include diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, stress, high blood pressure and habit of smoking which can be overcome by making some changes in one’s diet and developing some good habits over bad ones.
Check out some of the habits that can give rise to heart ailments, but often go unnoticed due to our careless attitude towards health. Eating fried food once in a while is okay, but eating them on a regular basis is definitely not good.
Instead of this, do some microwaving, boiling or steaming. Prefer lean cuts of meat over fatty cuts. Also, if you regularly eat eggs, you should avoid the egg yolk. Instead of rich and heavy sauces made with fatty oils, eat nutritious plain yoghurt as mayonnaise.
Avoid picking processed food products from the shelves as they can affect your health in long term. Look for their contents in terms of saturated fats, sodium and cholesterol. If their percentage value is five or less, it means they are low in above mentioned nutrients and that makes them fit for eating.
If you cannot exercise on a regular basis, try for some brisk walking, which can be easily adjusted while you are performing other important activities. It will surely keep your heart healthy for longer time.
