Feeding a Newborn Baby
A newborn baby brings along loads of joy and positivism in the entire family. However, this joy also accompanies a host of responsibilities towards the proper upbringing and care of the newborn.
Feeding the baby is one such major responsibility, which every parent is worried about. This becomes a major cause of concern especially to those who have become parents for the first time. Many of you might find your baby crying very frequently and not able to decide whether your baby is crying due to hunger or some other reason.
Well, for the first few months, your baby requires feeding in almost every couple of hours. This frequency will get reduced as your baby grows up. Almost every parent finds it very tedious to feed their baby during the night time. While most of you practice patience and try to understand the needs of their baby to the extent possible, many times the baby keeps on crying for number of other reasons.
Here you have to remember that when your baby is not responding to the feed, you are not supposed to force her. Forced feeding may aggravate the issue your baby might not be comfortable about. Many times, your baby takes an excuse of breastfeeding in order to secure your touch and warmth. You would appreciate that your touch is very significant for your baby’s physical as well as emotional health. Thus you would notice that your baby gets uncomfortable in the cradle and craves to sleep in your lap, especially during the night.
As far as breastfeeding is concerned, a mother can think of weaning once the baby crosses her first nine months of age. Once you start feeding your baby with solid foods, you will find that the frequency of feeding is getting reduced. This would largely depend on the type of nutrition you are able to provide your baby and that is why you need to work out an optimum mix of vegetables, fruits and dairy products for her. It need not be some very rich food dipped in cheese and butter but nutritious enough to fulfill your baby’s requirements for growth.
