Healthy Food for Children




Children grow very fast. From arms to lap and then on their own feet. It is a crazy feeling. Children, while growing, need a lot of attention and care. It is very important to take care of their growing needs. Children’s body needs are very high as compared to adults.

A variety of nutrients and minerals are needed in the growing age. Balanced diet is very important for growth and good health. Variety of food should be given to children and the mealtime should be fixed.

It is very important to give a healthy and balanced diet to the child. Try to include a lot of variety so that your child gets a wide range of nutrients. Some major things that should not be missed in a child’s meal are calcium (milk, cheese, tofu, nuts), vitamin D (sunlight, but avoid strong rays), iron (fish, meat, green vegetables), vitamin C (citrus fruits), and so forth.

The diet alone can do no wonders. Exercise and physical activities are equally important. In today’s world, most of the children prefer to stay indoors and are glued to computers to the television sets. It is important for them to go out and play. This keeps them healthy.

What to serve at snack time? If you have this question in your mind everyday, here are few tips that might be helpful. Most kids prefer to have quick bites and when it comes to cooking, most of these are calorie rich snacks, which should be avoided.

However, you can try giving some backed potato chips, flavoured rice cakes, low fat cottage cheese with fruits or popcorns instead of donuts, pizza , french fries or burger.

More and more children are attracted toward fast food, however parents should encourage their children to avoid fast food as this can lead to many serious ailments, obesity being on top of the list.

Healthy and balanced diet gives your child energy and freshness that is very important at the growing age.
