Ayurveda has a very comprehensive approach towards hair treatment. It says that we must respect the nature of human body. It is as natural as water and air. It even says that consider your skin as a landscape and your hair as grass growing on to it.

If we think on the deeper meaning, it implicitly says that a natural thing should not spoiled by use of artificial stuff. Also, you can easily imply on the wonderful metaphor Ayurveda studies have used to make you understand the intrinsic nature of hair and skin.

Obviously, if your skin is considered as land and hair as grass, the first thing to cure any hair related ailments is to take a look at the skin. If the skin is suffering some issues, hair treatment in alone won’t suffice.

To take care of this, Ayurveda has divided hair care into three segments: Shiroabhyanga, Shiroswedana, and Kesholepa. This is a radical process meant to cure your hair related problems from root to the end.

Shiroabhyanga: This process is aimed at identifying shortcomings (doshas) in your hair first and then addressing them with a radical approach. It urges for doing gentle head massage with herbal oil. This massage is meant not only for your skin but for your scalp as well. You can say that it is focused on roots and the skin on which the hair have grown. You hair will automatically respond when their roots are addressed.

Shiroswedana: Under this process, you are required to have a herbal steam. You must recall how often you went on for having steam on your face, leaving your face glowing and free of toxic elements. A similar soothing effect you can expect from Shiroswedana steam as well.

Kesholepa: Once it is observed that your hair is getting free from doshas, you will go for Kesholepa. This procedure emphasizes on improving the overall quality and texture of your hair. You will have to apply paste made out of certain herbs on your head.

This you can apply the way you use shampoo but believe it, shampoo is nowhere near this treatment. Using shampoo is a chemical treatment and your hair might appear silky and smooth for some time but you remain on the losing side of having applied chemicals on your hair.
