Injuries can happen to anyone at any time. Serious injuries require immediate medical attention, but minor injuries can be treated at home.
Minor injuries should not be overlooked or neglected, because there is a high chance of infection from bacteria. Most injuries occur in the home, often in the kitchen or bathroom. While active children are susceptible to minor injuries, their injuries also heal faster. Adults, on the other hand, tend to suffer more from sprains or muscle aches, although cuts from shaving or kitchen work also occur. No injury should be left untreated.
Home remedies for injuries aim at providing an effective barrier against bacteria and encouraging the body to heal itself.
Grind about 20 neem tree leaves. Strain this mash through a cloth and remove the juices by squeezing the cloth tightly. Add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to the neem juice. Put this mixture into a pot to heat and place a clean cotton cloth in the juice. Heat for 10 minutes, then cool slightly and tie the saturated cloth over the injured body part.
Crush neem leaves into a paste and apply directly over a wound before bandaging. Neem has antiseptic properties and also reduces pain. Fry some onion slices in liquefied butter and then crush them to make a poultice. Apply this directly over the injured body part and then tie a clean cotton bandage over it.
Crush fresh holy basil leaves and make a poultice from them. Apply this over the injured body part and cover it with bandage. To stop the bleeding, crush alum pieces and apply them to the wound. Barbers frequently use this remedy when they accidentally injure their customers.
Make a paste from betel leaves. Apply to the injured body part and cover with a clean bandage. One clean leaf from a betel plant also can be placed over an injured finger or toe and tied on with a cloth bandage. Betel’s natural properties will promote healing.
