Herbal Treatment For Earache

Of course there are home remedies for that tearing pain in the ear. But, if you continue to have repeated attacks of such pain or the pain refuses to die in a matter of days, it would be advisable to call on your family physician. The remedies suggested here are helpful to get relief, as long as the ear has no serious infection or another anatomical disorder or an internal injury.

Remember it is a very vital organ and one should not neglect it too long if it continues to malfunction or the pain continues. It is a delicate part of your body; don’t act too harsh with it by neglecting it for too long.

As we know application of heat to a body part that is not behaving normal is generally helpful, so is the case with the ear. Here’s how to go about it.

Boil a cup of water to kill any germs that may be present. Allow it to cool till it gets bearable to physical touch. Next, dip in a piece of clean cotton cloth or a piece of surgical gauze in this water.

Squeeze out excess water and let the warm piece of cloth or gauze be there on the affected part. Continue doing the same exercise till the water gets cold. This may be done as often as it is found comfortable. Unless there is some serious ailment of the ear the treatment would give relief.

An alternate way for applying heat on the ear would be with olive oil. Heat up the oil, dip a small clean piece of cotton or gauze in the warm oil and keep this piece of warm cotton on your ear.

Make sure to remove excess oil before applying cotton on the ear. For a continued smoothening effect, the cycle may be repeated a couple of times.

Apart from heat treatment you may use garlic; it is known to have strong characteristics of fighting bacteria. Just crush a few garlic cloves to extract its juice. Put the juice in the ear with the help of a cotton-wad or a dropper.

Make sure that the dropper has been disinfected. Another helpful way of making use of the anti-bacterial properties of garlic is to mix a few drops of its juice in the warm water that is used for application of warm compress as already described.
