Home Remedies for Menstrual Pain
Another name for menstruation pain is dysmenorrheal. Many women suffer from menstrual pain before or during menstruation. The main reason behind this pain is endocrine imbalance. Every month chemical called prostaglandins is released from the lining of the women’s uterus.
This chemical helps in the contraction of the uterine muscles and expulsion of tissue and fluids during menstruation. When prostaglandins are produced in high level the uterine muscles contracts and leads to cramps.
Sharp irregular pain or dull, aching pain, also pelvis and abdomen pain, fatigue, backache, or nausea are some of the symptoms of menstrual pain.

Sesame seeds are helpful in treating menstrual pain. Boil one glass of water with 1-2 teaspoon of sesame seeds. Strain the mixture and let it cool for some time. Drink this juice twice a day when you are suffering from menstrual pain.
The use of ginger is an easy and effective home remedy for the treatment of menstrual pain. Crush a piece of fresh ginger and boil it in a cup of water for some minutes. Add some sugar and drink it thrice a day after meals as a medicine.
Parsley is also beneficial in painful and difficult menstruation. Take half cup of parsley juice. The patient can take this juice along with other juices like carrot juice or beetroot juice.
Raw papaya is useful in treating menstrual cramps. Women suffering from menstrual pain should eat unripe papaya. Raw Papaya helps in proper functioning of the muscles of the uterus, which helps in proper menstrual flow and eases pain.
Use of Banana flower is another useful home remedy for menstrual pain. Cook one banana flower in little oil with one cup of curd. This will give quick relief to the women suffering from menstrual pain.
Coriander seeds are good home remedy for relief from severe pain during the menstruation period. This gives fast relief from menstrual pain. Take a glass of water and add 15-20 seeds of coriander seeds in it. Boil the decoction until it’s decreased to half. Drink the mixture when it is still warm. The mixture is bitter in taste so add a little sugar before drinking it.
Lemon grass is also very beneficial for menstruation related problems. Women suffering from severe pain during this period should take lemongrass in the form of tea.
During this period the women should take well balanced diet such as fresh fruits, green vegetables, fish and wholegrain cereals. Try to avoid meat, poultry, milk products and white flour.
