How To Reduce The Cholesterol




First and foremost task that helps in reducing the cholesterol level, is to replace the saturated fat with unsaturated fat. So one must ensure that wherever possible, saturated fat items are to be replaced with the one with unsaturated fat contents. This helps resolving the problem to a reasonable extent.

There are two parts of unsaturated fats i.e. polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats. Polyunsaturated fat is found in most of the cooking oils which use soyabean, seasme, sunflower etc as the their ingridients. But one must ensure while buying such products from the market because some of such products do contain saturated fats as well. This can be identified with the label “hydrogenated” on the item. In these products, some of the polyunstaurated fat content would have actually been converted to saturated fats.

Another good choice while selecting a product with polyunsaturated fat is the fish oil. We often find fish as one of the components in most of the good diet plans for the same reason that it is supposed to be quite low in saturated fat.

Second type of unsaturated fat i.e. monounsaturated fat is mostly found in oils like olive and canola. So these oils can also be a good choice for cooking as well as other purposes like salad dressing etc. This will also help in substituting the saturated fat content and hence will lead to low cholesterol level in blood.

Another way to reduce the cholesterol level is to stop eating the food which is high-cholesterol or should reduce the intake of such food to large extent to see any visible results. Moreover, it may be intersting to note that liver in the body makes enough cholesterol for the body needs.

So, you may need not have to look outside for your cholesterol intake. The food items like eggs, dairy products, egg yolks, meat etc are high in cholesterol. Most of the food of plant origin like fruits, vegetables, cereals, nuts etc contain absolutely no cholesterol.

It is not always essential that a food which is low in fat will necesarraily be low in cholesterol also. There are food items like organ meats which are quite low in fat but are high in cholesterol.
