Bad breath or halitosis is a highly unpleasant situation. It is embarrassing and will turn away people from you. Here are some tips to deal with bad breath and make life easy for you.

Food related odor

Garlic and onions cause foul smell. Do not eat these two raw. If it is possible, avoid them altogether. Both of them are highly beneficial foods but they stink too.

Brush your teeth after every meal

Do not keep the remains of the food in your mouth. It may cause bad breath some time later. Brush thoroughly and wash well.

Clean your tongue

After brushing the teeth, clean your tongue also. Use a tooth brush or a tongue cleaner. Remember to do this every time you brush your teeth.

Do not skip food

Fasting and dieting causes bad breathe since it brings changes in the metabolism of the body. So if you are to dieting please take proper care so that bad breath doesn’t affect you.

Avoid tobacco

Tobacco intake in any form causes bad breath. Turn away from tobacco products and keep in mind that it is good for your health too.

Drink plenty of water

Dryness in the mouth sometimes causes bad breath. To avoid this situation gulp down water enough to keep your mouth fresh.

Consult the dentist regularly

Check and clean your teeth regularly so that the dentist can find out the problems in the early stage itself. A professional cleaning of the teeth reduces or stops the bad breath altogether.

Chew gum

Contrary to the popular belief chewing gum is really beneficial. It increases the production of saliva in the mouth. Saliva has antiseptic properties which help to kill the bacteria in the mouth.

Take a carrot after every meal

Carrot is an excellent mouth freshener. It cleans and leaves the mouth smelling sweet. Jaggery also has cleansing properties. Try to eat a small piece of jaggery after every meal. Apples are also good for cleansing the mouth. Cinnamon has anti bacterial properties which help to kill the bacteria in the mouth. Use cinnamon in your food generously.

Consult the physician

If after taking proper care bad breath continues go to the physician. Some times bad breath may be the indication of some serious medical trouble.
