How To Treat Cough?
A cough can strike anyone at any point of time. It is the sudden expulsion of breath from the lungs and is caused by microbes. Cough is a communicable disease and can result in chest congestion, pain in the throat, breathing problems, problem in swallowing food and a great deal of discomfort.
Changes in atmospheric pressure, allergies, sinus, flu, bronchitis, air pollution and dust can result in cough.

But they might cause drowsiness and other side effects. Cough can be of two types- dry or wet and both types of cough can be treated at home. How to treat cough at home?
Gargles:
One of the best remedies for combating cough is to gargle. This helps relieve a sore throat and helps subside the cough. Take some warm water and add a small amount of common salt to it. Use this infusion to gargle several times a day.
You can also take tea leaves and boil them in water along with a few leaves of Holy Basil or tulsi and use this infusion to gargle. Take a small piece of ginger and add it to boiling water with a few peppercorns and black cardamom seeds. Use this infusion to gargle.
Herbal teas:
There are various herbal teas that can help relieve cough and expel phlegm. You can take a small piece of ginger and 2 cloves of crushed garlic and add them to boiling water. Sip this tea slowly to get relief from cough. Another herbal tea is made by brewing a few leaves of Holy Basil in water along with 3-4 peppercorns, a small stick of cinnamon and honey.
Take 1 tsp ginger juice and add pepper powder to it along with 1 tsp lime juice and honey. Take this remedy at least 3-4 times a day to relieve cough. You can also extract the juice of 2 onions and add 1 tbsp honey to it. Take this after about 5-6 hours to get instant relief from stubborn cough.
