Know about Seizure symptoms
Seizure is nothing but the severe clinical change in our brain. This problem might long for few seconds or sometimes it goes up to two to three minutes. Some cases of seizure are detected with around 30 minutes of symptoms.
Seizure and epileptic seizure
There are different seizures seen in the clinical history. There may be two episodes of seizure seen before the epilepsy is detected. Epilepsy might sometime lead to epileptic seizure. This kind of seizures can be very fatal and it can lead to permanent lose of brain cells.
Epileptic seizure is the result of electric short circuit in our brain. Non-epileptic seizure is the result of reduced blood flow in the brain and sometimes for any tumor, any reaction to medicines, and sudden imbalance of glucose or sodium levels. And it is not associated with any electrical change in the brain.
Types of Seizures and their symptoms
Seizures can be divided into two broad areas and in different sub-divisions, like:
Partial seizure
Simple partial seizure: In this kind of seizure, patients don’t get faint but they feel sudden jerk, any abnormal sensation in the brain. This kind of sensation lasts for 90 seconds. They are not last longing. Simple partial seizure treatment is easier and they are less harmful.
Complex partial seizure: In this kind of seizure, patients become senseless about their environment. It lasts for two to three minutes and each time patients lose their consciousness. Patients continue doing what they are doing without considering the surrounding situation.
Partial seizure with secondary generalization: In this case, patients face problems like falling on ground, stop breathing, yelling out, rhythmic jerking, tongue biting etc. It starts in one part of the brain like simple seizure and then rapidly begins to spread.
Generalized Seizures
Myoclonic seizures: In this case, patients face the problem like sudden jerk, jerking in hand, loosing the grasp over things. This kind of seizure affects one side or both side of the body.
Absence seizure: In this case, symptoms may not go beyond three seconds to 10 seconds. Patients continue doing what they’re doing, and they start giving a blank look, sometimes lip smacking, fumbling etc. This seizure is also known as petit mal seizure.
Generalized tonic-clonic: In this type of seizure, patients experience symptoms like sudden fall, yelling out, stiffness in limb, and jerk in the body. This type is also known as grand mal seizure.
