Are you feeling full even after eating little food? Does your feeling of nausea exist after seeing every meal? Does your after-eating vomiting tendency persist? Then you should not avoid this kind of problem?

This might not be the case of normal gastritis.  Rather this can be the alarming sign of Gastroparesis.

Why does Gastroparesis happen?
In case of normal people,  any food takes only three to four hours to get digested. But in cases of Gastroparesis patient, it can take even a day to get digested. Thus, patient doesn’t feel empty stomach. This happens if the Vagus nerve, which squeezes the stomach and keep the stomach activity up, gets damaged in anyway.

Causes of Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is not very common digestion problem. This can happen due to certain medical conditions like neuromuscular disease, autoimmune disease, infection, diabetes, radiation treatment etc.

Diabetes is found to be one of the root causes for this disease. High blood sugar due to diabetes makes the Vagus nerve weaker. Due to diabetes, nervous system controlling bowel movement becomes numb.

People, suffering from eating disorders like bullimia or anorexia, can also develop this disease.

Signs and Symptoms of Gastroparesis
The main sign of this disease is the feeling of full even when you have not eaten food for a long time. Patients with this disease do not feel empty stomach. Otherwise, they feel nausea after eating food. Also they feel like throwing up after each meal.

Apart from those symptoms, patients may feel many other problems like:
Heart burn and acidity
Gastroesophageal reflux
Sudden weight loss
Blood glucose level fluctuation
Severe abdominal pain

Treatment for Gastroparesis
Treating Gastroparesis is not much easier. But of course with some measures, its symptoms can be cured.

Medicine: There are many medicines available that can help to empty the stomach in a faster rate. Metoclopramide (Reglan, Maxolon) helps as the stimulant of gastrointestinal tract (GI tract). Otherwise, many antibiotics can do the same thing. But people may develop many side effects with antibiotic. Thus, patients are more likely to take anti-nausea drugs these days.

Gastric electric stimulator: In this process, small device is inserted with the help of surgery, and symptoms of nausea and vomiting are reduced via small electricity pulses emitted by this device. But it is very expensive treatment procedure.

Tube feeding: In this case, a small called jejunostomy is inserted to provide proper food directly to the small bowel.

Diet: Diet plays a vital role in this case. People should avoid fiber rich food and heavy diet, which take more time to get digested. People with severe symptoms might get shifted to the liquid diet. People are asked to have smaller but frequent meals.

All treatments are recommended considering the severity of the symptoms.
