Must Do’s for Healthy Hair

Lustrous, bouncy and healthy hair boost up your confidence and self esteem, as hair are one of the important features of our personality.  To have healthy hair you should also have a healthy scalp.

It’s necessary to take proper care of your hair and scalp so as to prevent hair damage. What should you do to maintain healthy hair and scalp? Follow these useful hair care tips to nourish your hair and to prevent damage.

Use Right Shampoo for Your Hair

The first step in the hair care is selecting right shampoo for your hair. Avoid shampoos that contain harsh chemicals. They can cause hair loss and lead to dry scalp.

Look for natural shampoos with herbal ingredients which are gentler to the hair and scalp. Do not shampoo everyday. It deprives hair of their natural oil and gives them a very dry look. Always apply conditioner on the ends of the hair after shampooing to help repair and restore damaged hair.

Wash Your Hair with Lukewarm Water

Use lukewarm water to wash your hair and for the final rinse. Avoid hot water as it irritates the scalp and may cause your scalp to produce extra oil. Try to use as much cool water as possible.

Use distilled water as your final rinse. Tap water leaves mineral deposits on hair that can dull it and damage it. While washing, massage your scalp with the pads of your fingers not your nails to boost circulation.

Massage Your Scalp

Give hot oil massage to your scalp at least once in a week.  Massaging helps stimulate hair growth by increasing the blood flow to the scalp. The blood provides nutrients to the follicles.

This nourishes the hair roots and helps to stimulate the hair growth process. Moreover scalp massage reduces stress. While massaging always use pads of your fingers, not your nails.

Eat Healthy Diet

The most effective way to get healthy hair is to have a healthy diet. Eat well balanced diet rich in vitamins, protein and fiber. If your diet lacks enough vitamins, you should consider taking some vitamin supplements. Vitamin A, B, C and E are very good for hair.

Your hair is primarily made up of protein. Protein gives strength to your hair and prevents them from breaking and splitting. Eat protein rich foods like fish, meat, milk, cheese so as to prevent hair from breaking. Water makes your hair supple and soft therefore you should have enough water. Drink about 10 glasses of water in a day to promote healthy hair.

Exercise Regularly

You should exercise regularly in order to stimulate the blood flow to the scalp and nourish the hair follicle.

Avoid Blow Drying

Allow your hair to dry naturally whenever possible. Blow dryers if used should be set to low or medium heat. Blow dryers should be kept at least about 8-10 inches away from your hair because excessive heat from the blow dryer can damage your hair.

Trim Your Hair Regularly

Trim your hair regularly so as to keep the ends of hair soft and smooth. If your hair ends are damaged, get your hair trim. Getting your hair trim every 2-3 months keeps hair in shape.
