Natural Ingredients To Treat Eye Infection In Rabbits

There are millions of people who love to keep pets. Every individual may have his or her preferences when it comes to the choice of pets. While some prefer to keep common pets like cat, dog, horse, parakeet, cuckoo, duck, fish etc. Others may opt for unique pets like frog, snail, turtle, rabbit so on and so forth.

Just like humans, pets may occasionally fall a victim to some or the other disease. Eye infection is a common ailment affecting pets like rabbits. Rabbits can be very adorable pets. They often have the tendency to scratch themselves with untidy paws.

Often, they meddle with their eyes too and contact eye infection. Symptoms of eye infection include formation of puss, hair fall, bleeding or swelling around the eye region. It is always advisable to take your cuddly rabbit to a vet who would be able to diagnose the problem and suggest medications accordingly.

Besides what that vet may have suggested, you could have it treated using readily available ingredients at home.

First of all clean the affected area using natural antiseptic prepared from boiling some turmeric powder in water. Then take some fresh aloe Vera leaves and squeeze some gel from it.

Apply this gel over the affected areas around the eyes and leave it to work on the skin. After this gel dries up, prepare a mixture of cortizone as well as betadine. Spread this concoction over the hairless region. Continue with this treatment for some days till the hair grows back again.

Here is another remedy. Take a few drop of tea tree oil and smear it over the inflamed regions. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and has been found to be very effective in curing microbial infections.
