Back pain is not an uncommon ailment. In fact, you would find that every second person around you is complaining about back pain. Probably, this was not the case a couple of decades ago. So, what has gone wrong with the present times. Have we become so careless or hardworking? Well, in today’s lifestyle, the major cause of back pain is sedentary jobs.
The more and more use of information technology and internet has made things very easy for us. Even, you do not have to go anywhere to buy anything. You can buy almost everything at the click of the mouse. As far as our work is concerned, it is entirely dependent on computers nowadays.
Millions of people start and finish their day with the computer. Countless people are emmloyed by the software industr where they have to stick to their computer screens for developing programs all the time.
Not just computers but most of the industries are extensively using computers for different kinds of services. Therefore, the bottomline is that you cannot escape computers but it does not mean that back pain is your destiny and you have to live with it forever. There are many ways you can avoid it and that too in very natural ways.
First of all, you have to make sure that you are maintaining a right posture throughout the day. Leaning back and forth on the chair is very natural but it can hurt your back. Just try to keep your back straight right from the lower back and not just upper back. Many people take support of chair to rest their upper back while the lower back bends away from the upper back and goes more towards hips. You have to make it upright.
The second thing is about arms. It normally happens that the gap between your hands and the desk widens up. This posture puts strain on your upper back, neck and shoulders, and you can develop pain in these areas. Therefore, maintain an appropriate distance between your arms and the desk. Another very trivial looking aspect is about your chair’s height.
Generally, you would tend to increase its height to an extent that your eye level goes above the computer screen. This is where you go wrong. You have to maintain an eye level equal to the computer screen. This not only provides relief to your back, neck and shoulders but also saves your eyes from taking the strain.
