Anorexia is more of a man made ailment than a natural disease characterized by eating disorder resulting from psychological, social or cultural pressure.

Also medically referred to as Anorexia nervosa, this disorder is highly prevalent among females beginning during the teens. This functional disorder is characterized by distorted lean physique, sunken cheeks, and dwindling body weight.

Avoidance of food or intake of insufficient diet for a prolonged duration in order to avoid gaining weight is one of the major psychological factors among women who are obsessed with slim body contour. Such misconception can lead to dire consequences if proper treatment is not provided for in time.

Natural remedies offer safe, effective concoctions to cure anorexia detected at an earlier stage. These medications comprise active ingredients that basically induce hunger.

Take a few pieces of fresh ginger and to it add 5 drops of lemon extract, splash of asafoetida and rock salt powder and one whole black pepper. Grind all these ingredients to make a smooth paste. Have 1 tbsp of this paste empty stomach, every morning for 15 days, to stimulate hunger.

Another simple way to increase appetite is to have at least 3 oranges or apples in a day. Both are natural appetizers. Garlic is one vegetable that has shown promising results in curing this eating disorder. It can be used in salads, meals or soups to facilitate better digestion and augment craving.

Boil a cup of water and add 3 cloves to it. Let it simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from flame and squeeze 4 drops of lemon juice over it. Have this decoction once a day for about a week to boost hunger. Soups made from fresh vegetables are good appetizers. For better results, spices like rock salt, pepper could be added to enhance the taste as well the appetite.
