Remedial Treatment at Home for Constipation
The easiest and most effectual method is to drink a minimum of six to eight glassfuls of water every day to aid digestion and absorb nutrients. An intake of about two tablespoons of molasses at night is a remedy that can be taken with prune juice, any fruit juice or milk. Half a cup of cabbage juice taken a couple of times every day combats constipation.
A popular natural cure is to soak 10 or 12 seedless grapes in some milk and then boil the milk. Strain and drink the milk while chewing the grapes at the same time. Five or ten grams of Spiegel seeds soaked in about 200 grams of warm milk can be taken at bedtime with some sugar added in. Alternatively soak two teaspoons of the seeds in water for six hours, add sugar and take at bedtime.
A useful home remedy is to drink some water kept overnight in a copper container, the next morning on an empty stomach. Mix a quarter teaspoon of Epsom salt into half a glass of water and drink. Drink half a cup of orange juice with an equal quantity of olive oil. Equal amounts of spinach and carrot juice blended to make a bedtime drink is another good natural treatment for constipation.
Before mealtime you could also take a teaspoon of linseed with some water to provide the necessary lubrication for bowel movement. Sour lime juice with a half tsp of salt added into hot water is also a good drink to combat constipation.
