Remedies for Vaginitis

It is quite normal to have small vaginal discharge, as it is body’s natural mechanism for rejection of dead cells from the inner wall of vagina, while simultaneously keeping the organ clean, lubricated, and free from infections. Such a discharge generally has a clear or slightly milky appearance without any odor.

On the other hand a foul-smelling discharge along with irritation and scratching is indicative of vaginitis. It is an infection of the vagina caused by microorganisms that release foul-smelling liquids along with itching or burning sensation in the area. It may cause swelling and pain.

Remedial treatment and diet
Some of the simple measures and precautions mentioned here would generally be found helpful.

Take more of yogurt. Make it a regular feature of your meals. It can surly be taken all through the year. You can make it from zero-fat milk but avoid scented commercial versions.   Yogurt- soaked tampons may directly be applied into the vagina. Another item that you should include in your diet is garlic.

Have it in raw or cooked form, as it is a natural food that helps fight bacteria. This too may directly be applied to the vagina. Another way to fight this infection is the application of tea tree oil. Like garlic, this too has natural properties to fight infection, is helpful for treating vaginitis and offers relief from itching.

Start consuming a nutritious and healthy diet. Include Vitamin A and Vitamin E in your diet program. Take vitamin supplements, as natural foods may not offer the required quantity of needed minerals and vitamins.

Include more of fresh and green vegetables and fruits in your meals. Develop a taste for fresh salads. Keep away from alcohol. Fat foods or ready to eat fast foods are best avoided. Instead take more of nuts and fruit salads and juices.

Above all you must drink large volumes of water during the day. It keeps the body hydrated and is instrumental in throwing out the toxins that get deposited in the body.

Personal hygiene
It is also important to maintain proper hygiene and frequently wash your genitals during the day. It’s healthier to have a shower than bathing in a bathtub that may facilitate soap particles to enter the vagina and thus cause irritation.  Avoid synthetics, be those in the form of clothing or make-up ingredients.

Undergarments should only be of cotton. Avoid anything that irritates your skin or the genital area. Wash your vagina thoroughly and frequently with water so that it remains clean. Start taking mild exercises like brisk walking or jogging. These help you to sweat out and thus discharge toxins from the system.
