Remedies to Combat Cataract
The disease of the eyes which causes blurring of vision is known as cataract. The crystalline lens or their envelopes which are found behind the iris of the eye become clouded. This is caused by varying degrees of opacity which could be from slight to absolute. This opaqueness in the lens causes blockage to the passing of light through to the eye and thereby affects the vision.
The disintegration of the fibres of the lens, the deposit of salts and acids in between the fibres of the lens, and the deterioration of the nutrition in the lens are the three main causes for cataracts. Those with Down syndrome, eye injuries, diabetes, or who are simply aging, could be prone to cataract. Here are some remedies available to treat cataract at home:
Remedies to be Used at Home to Combat Cataract
The regular consumption of carrots either raw or in the form of juice, is an effective natural remedy for cataract. Extract some juice from pumpkin flowers. Apply on the eyelids and keep it on for about fifteen minutes. Do this twice a day. A drop or two of honey into the eyes is also recommended as a cure.
Approximately 6 grams of aniseed taken morning and night is a helpful remedy. Even better is a mixture of equal amounts of coriander powder and aniseed with some brown sugar, and taken in quantities of about 12 grams once or twice a day.
Half a gram of pepper ground with seven kernels of almond, a little water and some sugar candy is another good remedy. Two pieces of ground cardamom boiled down with a glassful of milk and taken every night at a lukewarm temperature is considered healthful for the eyes.
Three or four almonds soaked overnight in about two or three tablespoons of milk should be mixed with sandalwood in the morning and applied to your eyelids to combat the redness that sometimes comes with cataract.
Garlic is said to have properties that clean the crystalline lens in the eyes, and therefore should be added in to your daily diet. Consume about 2 or 3 cloves more than you normally do every day.
Grapes and oranges are said to be helpful for healing cataract, and should also be increased in your diet. Use lemon juice and olive oil to dress your fresh salads. This is beneficial for the health of the eyes. Dates, figs, soaked raisins, nuts, drumsticks, fenugreek, turnip, cauliflower and spinach should be introduced into the habitual diet as they are good for the treatment of cataract.
