Stop Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation (PE) is a condition in which a man reaches orgasm too fast during intercourse. Sometimes even before penetration. It is the most common sexual complaint among men and women. There is a higher incidence among teens and young adults who may be less experienced.
There have been different definitions through out the years but most agree that there is interference in the ejaculatory control which interferes with one or both partners. Many men experience this problem at least one time in their lives.
Psychological factors can contribute to PE. PE can be caused by stress, inexperience, depression, unrealistic goals, communication problems and trouble with intimacy. Physiologically, the neurotransmitter serotonin may play a role. Low levels of serotonin can affect ejaculation.
Sympathetic neurons can be a factor in premature ejaculation. Sympathetic neurons control ejaculation and automatic and somatic neurons control the expulsion. Genetic inheritance can also play a role in premature ejaculation. Many areas in the brain appear to control ejaculatory response.
Some men with premature ejaculation have a faster response neurologically in the pelvic region. Sex therapists can prescribe some exercises to help with premature ejaculation. Some men may get relief from anti-anxiety medication to slow down ejaculation.
There are also creams that can be applied to the penis to slow ejaculation but they also diminish sensation to the area. Magnesium deficiency is associated with premature ejaculation.
There are primary and secondary types of premature ejaculation. In primary premature ejaculation the condition has been present since puberty. In secondary premature ejaculation it has been acquired in men who previously had no problem.
Premature ejaculation can occur at any age. It is primarily a condition of young adulthood. It affects approximately 30 to 70 percent of men during their lifetime. It is a treatable condition.
If you are having difficulty with premature ejaculation you should see a Urologist to rule out any physical cause and suggest treatments. Psychotherapy or therapy with a specialized sex therapist may be required.
There are also some home remedies you and your partner can try. For most men it does not occur very often and occurs during their youth when they have not learned how to control their ejaculatory response.
