If you’re leaking urine involuntarily, then it might be the symptom of your overactive bladder. But you can’t be assured that only leakage of urine is the main pointer of overactive bladder.
Other reasons for urine leakage
Rather researches have proved that due to urinary tract infection or UTI, enlarged prostate gland, continuous sneezing or coughing, or any medication might cause the leakage of urine in a woman.
But you have to be continuous about the symptoms of the overactive bladder and consult your doctor before it gets worse.

Over active bladder syndrome is also known as ‘irritable’ bladder’. Medical term of bladder muscle is called Detrusor. Thus, it is also known as Detrusor instability.
Symptoms of Overactive Bladder
Main symptoms of overactive bladder are divided into certain category:
Urgency: It means how urgently you feel going to toilet to pass the urine.
Frequency: How many times you need going to toilet to urinate
Nocturia: If your urine leakage keeping you awake at night and forcing you to go to toilet several times at night.
Other symptoms of overactive bladder include:
Bed wetting while you’re taking nap
Pain at the time of passing urine or when bladder fills with urine
Weakness in the stream of urine and it might lead to dribbling sometimes
Feeling of fullness of bladder even while you’ve urinated recently
Infection in urinary tract or sometimes in bladder
Problem to pass urine
More pressure needed to empty the bladder
Symptoms of overactive bladder according to its types
According to the types, overactive bladder symptoms may vary:
Stress incontinence: When you’re physically stressed out, then it causes leakage of urine. For example, if you’re jogging, doing aerobics, sneezing or coughing, dancing etc., then sudden leakage of urine can take place. During childbirth, at the time of menopause etc can fall under stress incontinence.
Urge Incontinence: It is the type of urine leakage when you can’t control your pressure of urine and sometimes urinate without even getting inside the toilet. Thus, you feel the sudden urge of passing the urine without even going to the bathroom.
Overflow incontinence: It is not very common form of overactive bladder syndrome. Due to this, you tend to pass small amount of urine all the time. In this case, sometimes patient doesn’t even realize they’re urinating.
