Taking care of lips in winters
Like any other delicate part of the body, lips also need a serious care. It’s only when they are chipped or bleeding, our attention is drawn towards them. Whether its winter or summer, its round the year that lips need the care.
For your surprise, skin of the lips does not contain the pigments called melanin, which can save skin from ultra violet rays. Therefore, lips are more prone to damage from harsh rays of the sun than any other part of the body.
Those are the lucky ones who get the chapped lips only when it’s the winter season or somehow the weather is dry. Most of the people face this problem of dryness of lips in every season.
The real culprit sometimes is pollution. To rescue from trouble, some of them keep on licking the lips. It gives the feeling of hydrated temporarily, but it actually making the evaporation process little faster, which makes the problem worse.
To have soft and supple lips is not that difficult as it seems to be. A little bit care can solve the problem. If you have chapped lips all the time, you need to have a moisture balm with sun protection factor of at least fifteen in your pocket every time. Before applying lip balm, clean the dry flakes of skin with soft and wet tooth brush.
Other than this, if you are keen to have natural pink color on your lips, try for some home made recipe. Prepare a moisturizer by mixing equal amount of glycerin and rose water and store it in a small bottle to use it at night before going to bed. Doing this for just few days can relieve you from chapped lips.
Furthermore, many times it is the allergy from cosmetic products that some people have dark, dry and flaky skin of their lips. Keeping your lips polished with thick lipsticks is not a good idea. Like any other part of the skin, pores of the lips too need some air to breath. Therefore, keep some time off when you do not put anything on your lips.
To keep away the damage, always apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying lipstick. At the end, keep yourself hydrated all the time.
