Dark circles can greatly alter the look of your face and can make you look haggard and tired. There are various causes of dark circles and a few simple ways to get rid of them.
Cutting down on coffee and drinks that have caffeine helps in curbing dark circles. Replace caffeine laced drinks with water to keep yourself well hydrated. Dehydration causes dark circles as toxins are not flushed out from the body thus resulting in the darkening of skin.
Aerated drinks contain synthetic sweeteners which are harmful for the body and cause the eyes to look puffy and dark. Reducing the intake of these drinks will help in getting rid of dark circles.
To combat dark circles lower the use of processed foods. Processed foods contain artificial colorants, chemicals to increase shelf life, emulsifiers etc which cause toxins to accumulate in the body.
Soaked teabags can be kept on the eyes to ease dark circles. Teabags should be refrigerated before use as this improves their effectiveness in fighting dark circles. But make sure that you use normal teabags and not the herbal variety. Cucumber slices can also be used to relieve stressed and tired eyes.
Using chemical based skin products can also cause dark circles. Before buying all cosmetics check the labels and opt for organic and natural products. Be it designer brands or less expensive cosmetics most of them have a lot of chemicals. These chemicals are used to increase the creaminess of the product or ito act as preservatives.
Eating lots of fruits and vegetables helps in providing a good supply of nutrients which results in reduction of dark circles.
Taking adequate sleep also helps in fighting dark circles. Also if you are suffering from dark circles you should keep your head elevated while sleeping.
Exercising the facial muscles especially those around the eyes will also help in combating dark circles. With age the muscles begin to sag and this causes the lines and furrows around the eyes to appear more prominent.
Avoid rubbing your eyes as this harms the sensitive skin around the eyes. During the day it might be easy but at night you might have to take help of an eye mask.
If nothing works use a concealer to cover those dark circles.
