Treating Leukoderma From Its Roots
Leukoderma is quite a common disorder related with skin. The exact cause of this skin disease is not known but it is a disorder in the nature of auto-immune disease wherein immune cells mistakenly identify some parts of your body as foreign and attacks it.
In case of leukoderma the cell attacks are melanocytes, which gives skin a distinct colour. Anyone can be affected of this disease but it can also be a hereditary effect. People suffering from auto-immune conditions such as hypothyroidism are more prone to get inflicted of this ailment. This disease is also known as vitiligo.
Symptoms of leukoderma
White patches on the skin are the major symptoms of leukoderma. These patches are more common in parts where the skin is exposed to the sun more often. These patches may thus surface up on the face, neck, hand, arms and feet.
Other common parts that can get affected of white patches are arm pits and groin. Genital parts may also be inflicted of this disease many times. Eyes, nostrils and navel are the areas that are most prone to this disease.
Types of Leukoderma
This disease is classified in two categories: stable and changing. In the former one, the white patches neither respond to treatment nor spread further. However, in the later case, the situation keeps on aggravating by spreading of the patches on to areas around the origin.
Alternate treatment for Leukoderma
Various research studies have proved that leukoderma has become a very common ailment, and one out of every five patients suffering from a skin disease are found to be suffering from leukoderma.
Ayurveda offers some very effective treatments for this ailment. As per Ayurveda principles, this disease is caused due to disturbance in pitta dosha and blood. These drawbacks (doshas) then make their home in a particular parts of the body and evolve in the form of various diseases. Leukoderma is one of them.
Ayurveda suggests internal purification of the body to treat this disease from its root and it is advisable to have herbal preparations meant for purifying blood. A variety of such preparations containing an extract of basil leaves and neem are available these days.
