Treatment For Joint Pain




Our joints are the mechanical support system of our body and help us perform all tasks related to movement and coordination. If our joints are not in good health we can be faced with serious problems. We perform virtually every task with the help of our joints from standing and sitting to eating, walking, running and lifting things.

The joints are extremely sensitive and prone to physical strain, injury and damage. If we do not take good care of our joints we might end up with a medical condition known as arthralgia or joint pain.

Arthralgia can attack a single joint or take more than one joint in its grip at a time resulting in a great deal of pain and discomfort. Joint pain can be mild to severe to debilitating and can even leave you crippled making the simplest of tasks such as standing or walking difficult to perform.

What causes joint pain?

There can be several reasons for joint pain such as injury, damage to the cartilage, fracture, sprain, discontinuing the use of steroids or a tear in a ligament or tendon. Whatever, the cause, joint pain can be very serious and should be dealt with right away.

Treatment for joint pain:

If you are looking to treat joint pain, you first need to get to the crux of the matter. It is important for you to visit a doctor who can diagnose the exact cause of pain and advise suitable treatment options. There are various remedies nowadays to help cure joint pain ranging from medications and herbs to alternative therapies.

Medicines:

You can ask your doctor to recommend an anti-inflammatory medicine that will help alleviate the pain. But prolonged use of pain killers can result in other medical complications and can cause serious damage to the liver and kidneys.

Alternative Treatments:

Consistent joint pain can be treated by using hydrotherapy. This branch of alternative medicine makes use of water to treat the affected joints. Water massage, sulfur springs and ice packs are popular forms of hydrotherapy. Garlic oil and turmeric extracts are also useful for treating joint pain.

Another popular form of treatment is the use of hot paraffin wax. The molten wax is applied to the affected joint and wrapped with a foil paper. This helps alleviate swelling and pain. Massage with warm mustard oil, fish oil or flaxseed oil also helps heal joint pain.

Regular exercise:

It is essential for you to exercise on a daily basis in order to maintain healthy joints. Lack of exercise can cause the joints to become stiff and extremely vulnerable to strain and injury. Some good forms of exercise for healthy joints are walking, swimming, yoga, aerobics, fitness ball, stretching and flexibility exercises.
