Treatment Of Vaginal Dryness

The vaginal walls keep secreting fluids that contribute to a moistened and lubricated genital area. None or insufficient lubrication causes dryness of the vagina. Women having reached menopausal state would generally have this dryness. A disorder of the thyroid gland may cause premature dryness of the vagina.

There could be more reasons to that and it is desirable to consult a gynecologist to know the exact cause of this state. There are many options for treatment after the cause is established. Nevertheless, here are a few things that you may try at your end and see if they are helpful.

Estrogen, a hormone that contributes to sexual health and thus towards natural lubrication of the vagina, is derived from cholesterol.  Therefore it is advisable to keep a check on your cholesterol levels and bring around changes in your diet to get them to the desired healthy level.

Foods rich in Vitamin A contribute to the stimulation of the thyroid gland. Natural sources of this Vitamin are carrots, eggs, and green vegetables. Improve the intake of these in your diet and include iodine in your food by having sea fish seaweeds and iodized salt.

You may also explore the possibility of applying external lubricants and moisturizers to private parts. Quite a few commercial applications are available. Choose one that is considered safe.
