Types Of Diabetes

Diabetes is of two types: Type 1 and Type 2. You might be coming across these terms more often, and wonder what is the difference between these two. Well, here we are going to discuss about Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is identified as a medical condition that can be treated with the process of insulin supplementation. This is not really the case with Type 2 diabetes.

Under Type 2 diabetes, the patient is not able to produce sufficient amount of insulin. This means that the pancreas that is responsible for producing insulin inside the body is not able to function properly.

In order to treat this deficiency of insulin in the patient’s body, Type 1 diabetes patients are given injections of insulin on a regular basis. This is the artificial way of providing the body with the required amount of insulin, which is otherwise not getting created by pancreas glands in a natural manner.

Type 2 diabetes is found in children, and is identified as a metabolic disorder that can come up in any age. Its symptoms can be recognized with extreme thirst. Also, a Type 2 diabetes patient can be found going for urination more often – more than usual. There can also be some unusual loss of weight. This symptom is very striking as a patient can be losing body weight without any specific reason.

On the other hand, it is found that Type 1 diabetes patients have a very weak immune system, and that is why they are more prone to acquiring other types of diseases. They are at a high risk of picking up infection of different sorts.

Under Type 1 diabetes, your body is not able to utilize glucose, and this is the major reason why your body is not able to control blood sugar levels in the body. In the case of Type 1 diabetes, the patient is also not able to digest food in the desired manner.

The advancement in medical research has made it possible to keep diabetes under control, however, a patient is always required to practice discipline.
