What Are The First Signs Of Pregnancy?
Pregnancy is one of the best times in a woman’s life. The signs and symptoms of pregnancy vary from woman to woman and might make an appearance as soon as conception occurs or may appear few days after conception.
Many women get to know they are pregnant only after they miss their period or feel a wave of nausea hitting them at odd hours. But if you feel that you are pregnant and are experiencing any of the following first signs of pregnancy, take a test to make sure at the earliest.
First signs of pregnancy:
Missed period: If your periods are usually regular and this time you are late, you could be pregnant. Do not take any chances even if you have been on the pill or have been using other birth control methods. It is best to take a pregnancy test as soon as you miss your period.
Food cravings: You might be pregnant if all of a sudden your body starts craving specific foods. Many women find themselves craving for dishes they wouldn’t eat otherwise when they are pregnant. This does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant, but if your food cravings are escorted by a couple of other symptoms, it is worth taking a pregnancy test.
Tender breasts: Your breasts might become swollen or tender to touch during pregnancy. You might feel a prickly or tingling sensation somewhat similar to that before your periods but it is usually more intense in some women.
Darker areolas: Pregnancy causes the skin around the nipples to darken. This can also happen in early pregnancy and is one of the first signs that you might be pregnant.
Frequent urination: Once the pregnancy hormone – human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) starts being produced by the body, you might find yourself taking a few extra trips to the bathroom. It is best to take a pregnancy test at this stage.
Cramping in the abdomen: You might experience abdominal cramping similar to menstrual cramping a few days after ovulation has occurred. This might be followed by a slight pinkish staining or spotting. This is known as implantation bleeding and may occur sometime around the date of your expected period.
Morning sickness: This symptom varies from woman to woman and some don’t even experience it. Morning sickness is accompanied by a feeling of nausea and dizziness either when you just wake up in the morning or at any other time of the day.
