If you find that your memory is poor or not so good as it should be, it is natural to think of the worst – Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia. Possibility is that there is usually another reason and the problem could well be temporary only.
Depression is the one of the most common causes of memory problems. Depression causes many of mental processes to slow down and memory is particularly affected.
Stress is another cause which may be responsible for memory problems. Almost any kind of stress can affect our ability to store and recall memories.However, when the problem gets resolved, or time has healed the pain, memory could be back to normal and as efficient as it was before.
Some of the stessfull events that could cause the memory problems are Work-related problems, Relationship problems like Divorce etc,Being charged with an offence and/or itigation etc
Another common reaons for memory related problem is due to normal ageing. During the age of mid-40s and 50s, it is absolutely normal to accept that you have become more forgetful. Studies have proved that 70% of people over the age of 50 claim that they have had some ‘memory problem’.
However, we do find instance of younger people as well who tends to forget things but may not pay that much attention whereas in case of older people, forgetting even some simple things may become the reason for worry them.
So, never ever, it should be so assumed that memory lapses being observed in the routine life could be the cause of a more serious – Alzheimer’s disease. But if you notice some kind of repeat patterns in some of the events related to forgetting things on regular basis, it is advisable to take some proactive action.
It is more commonly said that old people are better at judging whether people are honest or intelligent. So that does actually mean that some function of mind is actually improving with the age.
If you ever face a problem in recalling some one’s name whom you know very well but may not be getting to speak his name aloud, does not really mean that you are suffering from some serious memory ailment.
Remember, worrying too much about losing your memory or memory slow down, can actually make the condition worse.Having said that, one should not be too ignorant and careless also towards the events of life that hampers the routine acitivties of a person in some serious way due to memory problems.
