Home Remedies For Anorexia

The first and foremost about treating anorexia is “Lavana Ardrak Prayoga” meaning, the ginger and rock salt treatment. One can take little piece of the ginger and peel it off. Make it paste by adding few drops of lemon, very little asafetida, and one black pepper. Mix it up and have it daily on empty stomach at least for 15 days. An apple a day increases the appetite and also tones up the digestive system. It also provides some roughage for smooth digestion.

Take one cup of the water and boil it on medium fire with 2-3 cloves in it. Add the ½ tsp juice of lime to this and have it twice a day. This should be continued for at least a week. This increases the appetite. Its a simple and effective natural cure for anorexia and is one of the popular home remedies for anorexia..

One can use lime in this way – take one teaspoon of the lime, mix it with an equal quantity of the juice of the ginger. One gram of the rock salt is then added to that mixture. Now, keep these whole formulae in the sunlight for at least three days keeping away from the dust. A teaspoon of this mixture after each meal will improve the digestive power and also makes you feel hungry. This is one of the best home remedies for anorexia .

The garlic is wonder drug for increasing appetite. The garlic carries the property of stimulating the digestive power or fire. A soup prepared from this vegetable will be immense help to a person having anorexia or loss of appetite.

The vegetable soup with pinch of rock salt and black pepper will increases the appetite.

Increase the green vegetable salads in the meals. This may include cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets and capsicums.

Simply eating raw tomato increases appetite to some extent and this is a well like home remedies for anorexia.

Ayurveda believes that the ‘Ghee’ is one of the best food for increasing the appetite. This comes under the ‘Deepan’ category meaning, one which increases the digestive fire without disturbing any of the other bodily systems.

Try to have some spicy food (beware of putting more oil as it may invite high lipid profile and cholesterols). Spicy food with less frequency like, twice or thrice in a week may increase the appetite.

Some of the Ayurvedic treatment including ‘Panchakarma’ increases the appetite. This may include the enema with some herbal decoction and ‘Avagaham’ meaning dipping the body into certain medicated water.

Sour grapes are another one of the effective home remedies for anorexia. The juice of these grapes can be used in kneading the flour before preparing the ‘Chapati’ or ‘Roti’. These can be consumed without mixing with anything also. This remedy will tone up the stomach and increase the appetite. You can also put pinch of the rock salt to enhance the efficacy of the grapes.

The salad can be garnished by sprinkling the rock salt and squeezing the half of the lemon with the pinch of black pepper.

For those who are non-vegetarian, chicken soup will be better choice. Add some spices like black pepper and ginger juice to your recipe.

Researches have shown the efficacy of different types of postures (Yoga) as one of the most best method to increase the appetite. Certain posture like ‘Pavanamuktasana’ and ‘Vajrasana’ shoots up your appetite. Some people believe acupressure as good alternative for increasing the appetite.

interesting how the remedies are for increasing appetite. Obviously some people missed the description of what anorexia is! Anorexics do not want to eat more! This is just hilarious! Anorexia is a serious disease which even for those who have managed to put those thoughts and eating habits behind them still struggle with it for the rest of their lives - there is no cure it will always be a part of that persons life in some way - hopefully those who over come will overcome all the cycles of the effect over the years, its been 12 years for me and im thankful but - there is no cure and to say that u can take a mix of spices to cure it - not really correct information.
