Keep in mind that conjunctivitis is highly contagious disease. Stop sharing towels, pillows and handkerchiefs.

Change your hanky and bedspread frequently.

Keep your fingers away from your eyes. Touching the eyes will worsen the case of conjunctivitis.

Wash your face with disinfectant soap preferably herbal.

Make a cold infusion by putting some leaves of the marigold plant into water and use it as eyewash. This provides fast relief to the inflamed eyes and is also one of the good home remedies for conjunctivitis.

Wear goggles to prevent further infections to others. Keep your goggles clean and neat every time.

If you are wearing contact lenses, don’t put on them till your eyes become normal. Contact lenses are said to be trigger for such disease.

Keep your eyes away from sunlight or bright light. This irritates your eyes.

It is considered to be bad if you remain constipated. Constipation worsens the case of conjunctivitis. For this, you can go for herbal bowel regulators.

Simply put cool, moist chamomile tea bag on each closed eye for at least 10 minutes. You can repeat this after couple of hours. This works wonderfully in redness of the eyes. This is one of the well liked home remedies for conjunctivitis.

One can also wash their eyes with chamomile flower tea. This is one of the good home remedies for conjunctivitis

Vegetable juices are proven for benefits in conjunctivitis. For this, one can take about 200 ml of spinach juice adding to 300 ml of carrot juice. This is mixed well and is taken on daily basis at least for 10 days. It is a commonly used natural remedy for conjunctivitis.

Another proven herbal remedy is usage of Indian gooseberry. Take one cup of juice of Indian gooseberry and add two tsp of honey in it. Take this mixture twice a day for at least one week. This is one of the best home remedies for conjunctivitis

One should eat the food rich in Vitamin A and B2. This includes whole milk, pumpkins, almonds, curd, butter, tomatoes, carrots, corianders etc. These are very useful in treating conjunctivitis.

Take 60 ml of water and add handful of dried coriander. Use this infusion for washing the eyes. It will not only relieve the burning sensation in the eyes but will also reduce an inflammation. This is one of the best home remedies for conjunctivitis.

Keep your room clean. Regular vacuuming and keeping window closed will aid the treatment.

Keep your eyes away from the dust and pollution.

Use the sterile cotton ball to wipe your eyes by dipping the ball into lukewarm water.

Wash your hands with disinfectant.

Give up food that is heavy to digest. Turn on the light foods.

Increase salads and green leafy vegetables.

Smoking and alcohol is highly restricted.

Make some solution of aloe vera juice in water apply it over the eyes with the help of cloth by soaking in this solution. This helps in reducing the itchiness, pain of the sore eyes. This is one of the good home remedies for conjunctivitis.

Ayurveda believes the fasting will help wonderfully in the case of conjunctivitis.

Never try to rub your eyes. This will worsen the case of conjunctivitis.

Wash the inflamed eyes several times a day with the solution prepared with rose water. This helps in soothing the eyes that have become red and painful due to infection. This is also one of the good home remedies for conjunctivitis.

I hate conjunctivitis. I have it at the moment. Possibley the most annoying thing i have ever had. The stuff from the chemist really helps. Also flacing a cloth dipped in warm water and coriander leaves really helps.

i have conjunctivitis for the first time. Its horrible and i had the most amzing eye makeup planned for halloween, which i now wont be able to wear :(. I really hope it doesnt last long. GRRR!!!

i had conjunctivitus about two weeks ago, and then my mum caught it when mine had gone, i've got it again :'(, last time it lasted about a month. its really really red today when i woke up and it came on suddenly. i've also got a cold and a cough. :'( :'( :'(
