Garlic has been used to reduce the elevated levels of cholesterol since years. You can go for raw garlic (but it is contraindicated for a person with high acidity) or you can also go for garlic capsules, which are available in the market.

An Ayurvedic drug Guggul is considered to be the best for cholesterol reducing regimen. It is considered that Guggulu reduces LDL by 35% and increases the HDL by 20% in just 12 weeks if taken regular and with instruction.

Cook food with sunflower oil instead of solidified oils like cream and butter. This will help in lowering cholesterol level up to certain extent. Sunflower seeds contain a substantial amount of linoelic acid that is helpful in reducing the cholesterol deposits from the wall of the arteries. This is one of the good home remedies for high blood cholesterol.

Bran is said to be excellent source to reduce high level of cholesterol. Eat some bran after each meal; this will improve your health condition.

One can go for this simple formula – ½ cup of apple cider vinegar, two cups of apple juice and ½ cup of grape juice. Have 3 ounces of this mixture thrice a day. This will improve the cholesterol level in the body. This is one of the common home remedies for high blood cholesterol.

One can also use an onion juice to reduce the cholesterol. This will clean the blood and regulate the heartbeat.

One can go for a tsp of powdered fenugreek seeds in a glass of water and take it in the morning with empty stomach. This is to be continued for at least for a month. It is one of the effective home remedies for lowering cholesterol.

Go for finely chopped onion and 1/4 th tsp of ground black pepper in a cup of buttermilk. Consuming this will improve the cholesterol levels in the body.

Never remain constipated. Constipation worsens the symptoms of heart pain. High blood cholesterol already weakens the heart and constipation will add more trouble.

Take enough fibers in your diet. Fiber helps to lower the cholesterol pressure in the blood. It is useful in lowering cholesterol.

Give up junk food, fried food and food available in packets. They may contain preservatives and therefore shoot up the level of cholesterol.

Spicy food and oily food is to be avoided at any cost. Oily food increases the levels of cholesterol in the blood.
