Once again I am broken out with Chronic Hives:
(May 2. 2008 to the present).
I first developed them in 2005,
I had them for 6 months.
I was then diagnosed with Scleroderma.
I have been on just about everything over the counter & prescription, including Prednisone.
Nothing seems to work.
In the last week I have been having a really bad time of it.
I have not gotten any sleep as I am up all night with huge swellings that itch & burn.
I went on the internet to find info for natural relief.
I must have taken at least 8 baths the other night. I tried several suggestions. No relief!
I even tried the cool-cold baths.
But it aggravated my Raynaud's-
a result of the Scleroderma.
I did find relief with Phillips Milk Of Magnesia. I spread it all over.
It lowered the intensity of the itching.
I didn't think I'd find any relief as I have been having a really tough time with them.
I can't wait to tell my Immunologist about the
milk of magnesia.

Catnip tea. It was told to me by my mother when I had my first baby and I've kept up the tradition and given it to all four of mine. Once the hives are fully exposed they go away. Don't know how well it'll work for adults but after all; we're still babies...just bigger.

I have been getting hives on and off for 3 months now and they are really getting to me bad...I have a bad back and supposed to take Darvoset for the pain...well I had some insurance problems and have not taken any for about a year or so(off and on) but I really was hurting bad last sat. and took one (not an old one...a fresh one from my mother in law) and I broke out and had to go to the E R. Last night I took three Ibuprofin and within an hour I broke out and had to go back to the E R. I am really tired of these things. I also have allot of stress so I know that don't help at all. Any idea's???

hives are the result of some new introduced in your diet,,, oranges, milk, any kind of snacks that has a lot of salt and prersvatives for me I am going to keep a log
#8 - Helen Gane - 12/23/2008 - 06:39
hives are not always just the result of something new being introduced to your diet. I haven't had anything out of the ordinary in my diet in months and I got hives 3 days ago from stress @ work. We have bad nerves in my family and if mine get bad enough I get hives. Its happened once before after a close friend died. The only thing that works for me in Benadryl & Xanax.

Hives could be a result of something new in your diet but that's not the only thing that can cause hives. Auto-immune disorders can cause hives. I've been broke out for years now and it caused from whatever disorder I have. Now I'm just waiting for the doctors to figure out which one. So if you have tried every kind of meds. and can't find anything that might be triggering them ask your doctor to run the blood test called ANA. It could let them know if you might have an auto-immune disorder. It's not going to pin point which one but it will be a step closer to figuring something out.

Recently, i was itching so bad and thought it was a yeast infection. Went to the doc took the pill nothing. Soon it spread in welts and itchy bumps all over my body and is driving me nuts! Back to the ER. A tranquilizer is helping me calm down and sleep better.. I had to stop red wine it aggravated it severly and itching in your butt and privates is bad enough! Tried tanning to clear away the welts.. seems to help.. but i notice when i'm around my husband who constantly upsets me my nerves trigger the itch.. so all the blood work didn't find the reason, I'm sure it's about being calm rather than high strung. It was the worst itch ever.. like going insane. So far it's minor right now but i can still feel it in my body - I want to be better so cutting way back on alcohol, white wine is okay.. and taking lots of herbs drinking them in milk shakes to stay healthy and calming is really the key - avoiding anxiety.

I just had a baby 13 weeks ago. I'm breasfeeding her. I started getting hives about 9 weeks ago at night just when I was giong to bed. I try Allergy Tabets (Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 25mg) work great the only thing is that they make you very sleepy and have to take them every 4-6 hours. I try Loratadine Tablets 10mg once a day. It use to work great because it wouldn't get me sleepy or drowsy. But now it seems like nothing is working. I even have a yeast infection going on 4 weeks. I try to keep calm and relax but I feel I have alot to worry about a new baby, my 9 year old daughter, my husband, returning to work, babysitter, ( my baby is so cute a I enjoy being with her but I have bills to pay and she cry if anyone carries her, even her dad and sister) I'm going crazy with the itching help....
